FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.  Each year FIRST creates a new game that robotics team Inspiration s spend only 6 weeks to brainstorm, design, build, and test their robot to play the game.

Headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire, FIRST Robotics was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen. 

Supporting FIRST is over 3,500 corporations, educational and professional institutions and 90,000 volunteers.

FIRST provides programs for students in grades K-12 and consists of 212,000 students in over 19,000 programs creating almost 18,000 robots for their challenges.
