Team History:
Our team was formed from an alliance between East and South High Schools and worked together for the first time this school year. East High School had a robotics team for the past 9 years that was under the guidance of Joe Rader. South High School had only just developed a team under Dr. Osemwengie. We chose the name RoboBeasts because when we looked at combining our mascots of a tiger and a bulldog...it just looked "beastly"!
Team Challenges:
Our team combined two urban high schools from opposing sides of town and met at a third neutral location so gathering the team was definately a challenge. The logistics of getting all team members at a neutral location that provided all the equipment tested our communication system. There were many phone calls to keep all team members up to date on meeting times and locations. Getting everyone who showed up involved was also a challenging task. Creating a mascot that combined both a tiger for East High School and a bulldog for South High School was met with many disagreements before settling on one that equally shared both schools. Challenges were also met with creating the website. Our school internet filters stopped our efforts of creating a website. We had to scrap 3 versions before deciding to create from home to bypass the school's filters.
Working together to meet our challenges helped forged our newly created team into the "robot family" we are today!
GO ROBOBEASTS!!!!!!
